11 Feb 2025

At the end of 2024, the book Risk Communication and COVID-19, co-edited by Miloš Gregor, was published by the prestigious publishing house Routledge. The publication builds on the successful Political Communication and COVID-19 (2021) and offers a detailed analysis of crisis communication during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The book establishes a clear analytical framework and examines the evolution of government communication strategies between 2020 and 2022 through case studies from 17 countries, covering both democratic and authoritarian regimes. It focuses on key milestones of the pandemic, from the initial outbreak and the second wave to vaccination campaigns and the transition to an endemic phase. The analysis explores how different governments communicated with the public, the role of institutional trust, and the diverse approaches to pandemic management across political and cultural contexts.

This publication provides essential insights into effective crisis communication and the strategies that foster better cooperation between governments and the public during crises. The final chapter summarizes key findings and offers practical recommendations for crisis communication in the 21st century. The book serves as a valuable resource not only for academics and students of political science, media studies, and sociology but also for professionals in public administration, crisis management, and strategic communication.
