The article titled "The Social Contract Theory Meets Cybersecurity: A Systematic Literature Review" provides a comprehensive examination of how Social Contract Theory (SCT) is applied in the field of cybersecurity. Utilizing a systematic literature review, the study identified 873 relevant peer-reviewed papers out of over 30 thousand documents to explore the current state of SCT in cybersecurity, identify major applications, and highlight significant research gaps, particularly in empirical studies and the integration of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain. The findings reveal that SCT applications in cybersecurity are largely theoretical, emphasizing a need for more empirical research. The study also discusses a range of governance tools, including economic incentives, regulatory measures, and informational strategies, which are essential for bridging the SCT framework with modern cyberspace governance. This work underscores the interdisciplinary potential of SCT to enhance theoretical and practical approaches to cybersecurity.
